3D technologies and artificial intelligence are shaping the future of medical rehabilitation in Jeddah

The Integrated Medical Rehabilitation Conference, organized by King Abdulaziz University through its Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, witnessed a remarkable turnout with 500 specialists participating over two days. This prominent event addressed the latest innovations, highlighting how artificial intelligence and 3D printing technologies are shaping the future of medical rehabilitation in Jeddah, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a leading destination for advanced healthcare.
Historically, the healthcare sector in Saudi Arabia has undergone radical transformations, moving from traditional methods to adopting the latest global technologies. This development aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which places great emphasis on quality of life and healthcare. In this context, integrating advanced technology into physical and occupational therapy represents a qualitative leap aimed at improving treatment outcomes and reducing patient recovery time, making these scientific conferences an urgent necessity to keep pace with global technological advancements.
The Dean of the College of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, Dr. Afnan Al-Khatib, explained that the medical event featured 21 scientific lectures and the presentation of 30 research posters. She noted that the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties accredited the participants, who included researchers, faculty members, and healthcare practitioners from both within and outside the Kingdom, for 15 continuing medical education (CME) hours, reflecting the high scientific value of the conference.

Dr. Al-Khatib stated that the conference's scientific programs focused intensively on the applications of artificial intelligence and modern predictive techniques in medical rehabilitation. She added that the sessions explored recent trends in biomechanics and the applications of 3D printing in medical research, bridging past experiences with future visions. She also indicated that discussions addressed scientific advancements in wearable sensor technologies designed to monitor spinal alignment and body movement with extreme precision.
