The mosques of the historic city were furnished with 6,000 meters of luxurious carpets
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by its branch in the Madinah region, has begun implementing a comprehensive and high-quality project to refurnish and equip several prominent historical mosques located on the western side of the Prophet's Mosque. The project aims to cover a total area of approximately 6,000 square meters with high-quality, luxurious carpets, as part of a strategic plan to enhance the condition of these historical Islamic sites and provide a spiritually uplifting atmosphere befitting the pilgrims and visitors to the city of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
The renovation and complete refurbishment of three of the most important historical landmarks associated with the Prophet Muhammad's life and the history of the Rightly Guided Caliphs included the Al-Ghamama Mosque, the Mosque of Caliph Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, and the Mosque of Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib. This step reflects the utmost importance the Ministry attaches to these sites, as the Al-Ghamama Mosque, in particular, is of profound historical significance, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed the Eid and Istisqa' (prayer for rain) prayers there, making it a major destination for visitors seeking to trace the Prophet's legacy.
In its commitment to quality and sustainability, the Ministry selected the finest carpets, distinguished by their high technical and aesthetic specifications, and manufactured using the latest technologies to ensure their durability under heavy traffic while providing maximum comfort for worshippers. This upgrade directly contributes to enhancing the operational readiness of these landmarks, which experience a continuous influx of visitors around the clock, especially during the Umrah and Hajj seasons, when the number of visitors seeking tranquility in the city of Madinah increases significantly.
This initiative is of paramount importance given the strategic location of the targeted mosques in the central area surrounding the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Manakha district), a vital artery and daily destination for thousands of visitors and pilgrims. This focus aims to enhance the visitor's religious and cultural experience, extending beyond mere prayer to encompass an immersion in the rich history of Islam within these sacred sites. This necessitated swift and meticulous intervention to elevate the services provided to meet the aspirations of the wise leadership.
These projects are being implemented in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, who is personally overseeing the projects to improve the environment of mosques and grand mosques, consistently emphasizing the importance of caring for houses of worship, especially those with profound Islamic historical significance. This initiative embodies an integral part of the extensive efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, and aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to enrich the experience of pilgrims and affirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the sanctity of Islamic rituals and preserving the historical identity of Medina through the continuous maintenance and care of its religious landmarks.
