The Foreign Minister discusses regional developments with his counterpart in Brunei

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call today from His Excellency Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam. This call comes within the framework of the ongoing diplomatic efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance regional and international stability and coordinate positions with brotherly and friendly countries on pressing issues.
During the call, they discussed the latest developments, particularly the escalation in the Middle East, with both sides discussing the dangers of continued tensions and their impact on international peace and security. They also reviewed efforts to contain the crisis and stressed the need to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic solutions to spare the region further risks.
The Foreign Minister's efforts to unify diplomatic visions
This call comes as part of a series of intensive consultations the Foreign Minister with his counterparts around the world, amidst highly complex regional circumstances. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays a pivotal and historic role in leading efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, drawing on its political weight and standing in the Islamic world. Through these initiatives, the Kingdom seeks to forge a unified international position that will exert pressure to halt the escalation, protect civilians, and ensure that the conflict does not expand in a way that threatens the stability of the region's countries and the well-being of their people.
These talks are of particular importance given the urgent need to coordinate positions among the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Brunei are active members of the organization, which enhances the chances of coming up with common visions that support the issues of the Islamic nation in international forums.
The depth of Saudi relations with Southeast Asian countries
In addition to discussing pressing regional issues, the call addressed a number of topics and issues of mutual interest, as well as ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam enjoy strong historical ties characterized by mutual respect and ongoing cooperation in various fields.
The Kingdom places great importance on strengthening its partnerships with Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN), which represent a growing economic and political force in the global system. This engagement reflects a shared commitment to developing frameworks for bilateral cooperation, not only in political spheres but also in economic and cultural areas, serving the interests of both nations and fulfilling their aspirations for development and prosperity, in line with the Kingdom's openness to the world as outlined in Vision 2030.
