King Abdulaziz Foundation launches scholarship program in cooperation with the Ministry of Education

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening ties to national identity and enhancing the quality of scientific research, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, and His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, witnessed the signing ceremony of a significant memorandum of understanding between the Foundation and the Ministry of Education. The signing ceremony took place at the Foundation's headquarters in the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. This partnership aims to support scholarship programs and directly link them to the Kingdom's research and knowledge needs.
Launch of the King Abdulaziz Foundation's program to serve scholarship students
This agreement culminated in the announcement of the launch of the "King Abdulaziz Foundation Program for Scholarship Students," a significant step forward in the Saudi scholarship program. The program focuses on empowering scholarship students from around the world to access the wealth of knowledge housed within the Foundation. It will allow scholarship students to make the most of research resources, advanced digital services, and access to rare documents and manuscripts, historical photographs and maps, and archival records, thus guiding their academic research towards serving the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and documenting its national heritage.
The importance of the Darah as a historical and national reference
This step gains its significance from the established position of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, which is the foremost reference institution for the Kingdom's history, geography, literature, and heritage. Since its founding, the Foundation has worked to preserve and document historical sources, and this partnership will open the doors of this vast national archive to young scholarship recipients, ensuring that their research at international universities is based on reliable and accurate sources, and strengthening the presence of the authentic Saudi narrative in international academic forums.
In line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This collaboration aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically regarding the program for developing human capital and strengthening national identity. By connecting scholarship recipients to their history and roots, the agreement contributes to preparing ambassadors of knowledge capable of conveying the Kingdom's cultural image. The program also supports the trend towards "qualitative scholarships," which go beyond traditional academic achievement and seek to utilize global knowledge to serve national priorities and bridge research gaps in the fields of history and social studies.
Future training and qualification pathways
The signing ceremony was attended by the CEO of Darah, Mr. Turki bin Mohammed Al-Shuwaier, and the Ministry of Education, represented by the Deputy Minister for Scholarships, Dr. Lina bint Mohammed Al-Tuaimi. The memorandum outlines ambitious avenues for collaboration, including exploring the possibility of establishing new scholarship programs related to Darah's work, such as digital archiving, advanced historical research, and knowledge content management. The agreement also stipulates the organization of joint workshops and seminars, training for scholarship recipients and graduates, and a pioneering project to document the "History of Scholarships" in the Kingdom, serving as a testament to the development of Saudi Arabia's educational renaissance.
