Activating volunteer opportunities to serve female visitors at the Prophet's Mosque

In a move reflecting the great care given to pilgrims, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques announced the activation of a range of volunteer opportunities to serve female visitors to the Prophet's Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan. This exceptional initiative aims to enhance the role of women and their active participation in volunteer work, and to provide the highest quality services to female visitors to the Prophet's Mosque. This step falls within the strategic programs of the Women's Affairs Agency, in close cooperation with the Presidency's Agency for Enrichment and Volunteer Affairs, thus embodying institutional integration in serving pilgrims.
The roots of volunteer work in the Two Holy Mosques
Volunteer work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is highly valued and is not a recent phenomenon. Its roots extend deep into Islamic history, where serving pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors was considered an honor passed down through generations. With the development of institutions during the prosperous Saudi era, this passion for serving the guests of God has transformed into organized institutional work aligned with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aspires to reach one million volunteers. In this context, the role of the Prophet's Mosque stands out as a fertile ground for giving, where governmental and community efforts combine to provide a comprehensive spiritual experience for visitors from all corners of the earth, with a particular focus on empowering female staff to serve female visitors to the Prophet's Mosque with ease and tranquility.
Areas of volunteer opportunities to serve female visitors at the Prophet's Mosque
The initiative encompassed a wide range of areas to meet all the needs of female visitors. Volunteers' tasks included overseeing the alignment of prayer rows and crowd management to ensure smooth movement, as well as providing guidance and direction on both spatial and religious matters. The Presidency also addressed the technological aspect, involving volunteers in demonstrating the interactive screens located throughout the mosque and how to best utilize them. Opportunities also included designing informative infographics to disseminate guidance messages and providing translation and guidance in several international languages to serve non-Arabic speaking visitors. To ensure continuous improvement, volunteers participated in conducting surveys to gauge visitor satisfaction with the services provided.
The expected impact of empowering women in serving the pilgrims
Activating these initiatives has strategic dimensions and a wide-ranging impact at the local, regional, and international levels. Locally, this step contributes to strengthening the culture of volunteerism within the community and empowering women's professional community participation, reflecting the authentic values of Saudi hospitality. Regionally and internationally, providing high-quality services delivered by trained women through multilingual communication leaves a profound and positive impression on female visitors from around the world. This positive impression enhances the Kingdom's bright image as a leading nation in crowd management and providing comprehensive care for pilgrims, thus reinforcing the global message of the Two Holy Mosques in spreading the values of peace, cooperation, and Islamic solidarity.
