Saudi Arabia: Three convicted terrorists executed in Qassim

The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued an official statement announcing the execution of three Saudi citizens in the Qassim region, after they were found guilty of committing serious terrorist crimes that threatened the Kingdom's security and stability. This announcement reaffirms the state's firm approach in confronting all those who attempt to tamper with the nation's resources or terrorize its citizens, and is in accordance with deterrent Sharia rulings.
Details of the crimes and convicts
According to the Ministry's statement, the sentences were carried out against Rayan bin Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Dubaikhi, Mohammed bin Suleiman bin Mohammed Al-Thuwaini, and Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim bin Ahmed Al-Ayiri. Extensive security investigations revealed their involvement in a series of organized criminal activities, including joining a terrorist organization abroad, manufacturing explosives, and possessing weapons and live ammunition. The charges also included financing terrorist operations and harboring and concealing wanted individuals, which posed a direct threat to society.
The judicial process and effective justice
The Ministry explained that, thanks to God and the vigilance of the security forces, the perpetrators were apprehended. Following the completion of investigations and the formal indictment, they were referred to the competent court, which issued a ruling confirming their guilt. Due to the heinous nature of the crime and its threat to public security, they were sentenced to death by way of discretionary punishment (ta'zir). The sentence became final after being upheld by the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, and a royal decree was issued ordering the execution of the legally mandated punishment. The sentence was carried out on Wednesday, 18 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to January 7, 2026.
The context of combating terrorism and protecting national security
The implementation of these sentences comes within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism and eliminate its sources. The Kingdom adopts a comprehensive strategy in combating extremism, one that is not limited to security solutions but also encompasses intellectual and judicial aspects. This ruling reflects the Saudi authorities' commitment to applying the provisions of Islamic Sharia, which protects the sanctity of life and safeguards the security of society, emphasizing that the Sharia judiciary stands ready to confront anyone who dares to disrupt public order or join organizations that seek to destabilize the country.
A message of firmness and stability
The execution of the death penalty in these cases carries a clear message that national security is a "red line" that cannot be crossed. Observers affirm that such measures reinforce the security and stability the Kingdom enjoys and send a strong deterrent message to terrorist organizations and their sympathizers. Protecting society from the dangers of explosives and the financing of terrorism is a top priority, as the state strives to ensure a safe and stable environment for its citizens and residents, free from the machinations of those who seek to sow discord and the agendas of foreign organizations.
The Ministry of Interior concluded its statement by emphasizing the keenness of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to maintain security and achieve justice, while warning all those who commit such criminal acts that they will face the legal punishment.
