The President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Ethiopia, Dr. Ibrahim Tufa, praised the leading role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims worldwide, emphasizing that the Kingdom's generosity extends to the entire Islamic world. This came during his supervision of the "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Program for Distributing Dates and Providing Iftar Meals" in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, which, he said, reflects the Kingdom's spiritual standing and its firmly established historical and humanitarian role.
Dr. Tofa explained that the Kingdom, as the Qibla of Muslims and a wellspring of knowledge and scholars, was chosen by God to bear a great responsibility, honored by its proximity to the Two Holy Mosques and made a center of blessing and goodness flowing to all parts of the world. He added that Saudi initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan, such as distributing premium dates and hosting Iftar meals, are not merely seasonal humanitarian aid, but rather a natural extension of a deeply rooted approach based on giving and generosity—an approach upon which the Kingdom was founded since the era of its founder.

The Ethiopian praise is based on a deep historical connection between the Arabian Peninsula and Abyssinia (modern-day Ethiopia).
