On Saturday evening, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Hail Region, patronized the celebrations held by the General Directorate of Education in the region to commemorate the anniversary of its founding. The event took place at the historic Qishla Palace in Hail. The ceremony was attended by the Director General of Education in the region, Mr. Omar bin Hajjad Al-Ghamdi, a number of educational leaders, and a large number of students and their parents.
Upon his arrival, His Highness toured the building and viewed the various events and programs, which ranged from educational and cultural activities to national events. These events evoked the glorious history of the First Saudi State, reflecting its deep-rooted civilization and enduring heritage. The tour included a handicrafts exhibition showcasing the region's folk heritage, a classic car show, and the "Narrator of the Founding" corner, which presented a documented narrative of key events from that historical period in an interactive style aimed at enhancing the younger generation's awareness of their nation's history.
Founding Day: Deeply Rooted History
Saudis celebrate their National Day on February 22nd each year, a day that symbolizes the deep historical and cultural roots of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This date commemorates the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 CE, when he established Diriyah as its capital and the starting point for its unification. The celebration of this occasion was formalized by royal decree in 2022, making it an official national holiday that highlights pride in the deep-rooted history of this blessed nation and the strong bond between its citizens and their leaders for three centuries.
The importance of the celebration and its national impact
Such celebrations are of paramount importance, especially when organized by the education sector, due to their pivotal role in instilling a sense of belonging, loyalty, and pride in the history of the Saudi state in students. Engaging younger generations in these events contributes to building a strong bridge of knowledge connecting them to their rich past and enhancing their understanding of the nation's development and unification. Furthermore, holding the event at a prominent historical landmark like Qishla Palace in Hail adds a profound cultural dimension, linking the national occasion to the local heritage of the region. This aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes the importance of preserving national identity and showcasing the Kingdom's cultural and historical legacy.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Royal Highness the Prince of Hail honored the partners in success, expressing his gratitude to the organizing committees, collaborating entities, and sponsors. He highlighted the significance of the Founding Day occasion and its deep-rooted national value in the hearts of the nation's citizens, praising the students' engagement with the accompanying programs and emphasizing the vital role of educational institutions in strengthening national identity. He prayed that God protect the nation, its leadership, and its people, and grant them continued security, stability, and prosperity.
