Eid prayer at the Grand Mosque: Eid sermon and supplication for the leadership and pilgrims

The holy city of Mecca was filled with a profound sense of faith, spirituality, and tranquility as Eid prayers were held at the Grand Mosque amidst a vast crowd of pilgrims, citizens, and residents. The prayers were led by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Bandar Balila, who delivered the Eid al-Adha sermon, supplicating to God Almighty to accept the pilgrims' Hajj, forgive their sins, ease their affairs, and help them complete their rituals with ease and peace during these blessed days.
The importance of Eid prayers at the Grand Mosque and the messages of unity and brotherhood
From the pulpit of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Sheikh Bandar Balila delivered profoundly important messages of faith to the pilgrims, urging them to meticulously perform their rituals in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He also emphasized the necessity of thanking God Almighty for the blessings of monotheism and the Sunnah, which he described as the greatest blessings bestowed upon the Muslim community. The preacher called upon all pilgrims and Muslims to be brothers and sisters in faith, united by love and compassion, reflecting the radiant image of Islamic unity in the holiest place on earth.
The virtue of the Day of Sacrifice and its great importance in Islam
In his sermon, Sheikh Bandar Balila addressed the virtues of the Day of Sacrifice (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah), emphasizing that it is the best day of the year in the sight of God Almighty, basing this on Islamic legal evidence and the opinions of scholars. He explained that this great day includes significant acts of worship not found on any other day, such as standing at Muzdalifah, stoning the Jamarat al-Aqaba, sacrificing the sacrificial animals, shaving or trimming the hair, and performing Tawaf al-Ifadah. These explanations aim to strengthen the pilgrims' understanding of Islamic jurisprudence and remind them of the greatness of the rituals they perform, rituals whose historical roots extend back to the time of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and which embody the values of sacrifice, devotion, and obedience to God Almighty.
Prayers for the wise leadership and the brave security forces
At the conclusion of his sermon, the Imam of the Grand Mosque raised his hands in supplication, praying for the wise leadership of Saudi Arabia, saying: “O God, support with truth, success, and guidance our Imam and leader, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and grant him a long life in good health and abundant blessings. O God, grant him and his Crown Prince success in all that is good for the country and its people.” He also commended the tremendous organizational and security efforts, praying for the valiant security personnel and all those working in various fields to receive the fullest reward for their invaluable services in ensuring the safety of the pilgrims and facilitating their movement. This supplication highlights the pioneering and pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the care of the Two Holy Mosques, a role that enjoys widespread regional and international appreciation due to the high-level logistical and security coordination required to serve millions of Muslims annually.
