His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), announced a new national achievement in the charitable sector, as the total donations through the Ihsan platform 14 billion Saudi riyals, reflecting the deep-rooted culture of giving in Saudi society and its confidence in the government's digital system.
Record numbers and strict governance
This came during His Excellency's participation in the government press conference hosted by the Minister of Media, Mr. Salman Al-Dossari, and attended by the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid Al-Hogail. Al-Ghamdi emphasized that this substantial figure would not have been possible without the platform's rigorous governance, which is overseen by 13 governmental and regulatory bodies to ensure that donations reach their intended recipients with complete transparency.
The head of “SDAIA” pointed to the large amount of interaction with the platform, explaining that the daily operations are witnessing a large turnout, as millions of donation operations have been recorded, which confirms the success of the platform in facilitating doing good and making it a part of the daily life of citizens and residents.
Artificial intelligence technologies in the service of charitable work
Speaking about the technological role, Dr. Al-Ghamdi explained that SDAIA has harnessed the latest data and artificial intelligence technologies to serve the Ihsan platform. He pointed out that the donation lifecycle has become entirely digital, starting with the donor and ending with the beneficiary without complex human intervention, with the donation process through the platform taking no more than 5 seconds.
His Excellency added: “We are working to translate the donation process into its simplest form, and we seek to reduce mediation between the donor and the beneficiary,” revealing features that enhance transparency and credibility, such as providing audio and video clips of beneficiaries expressing their gratitude to the donors, which enhances the psychological and social impact of the donation.
Government integration to support the non-profit sector
The press conference witnessed a review of the integration efforts between government sectors, as the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Majid Al-Hogail, discussed the transformation journey in the non-profit third sector within the housing system, pointing to the efforts made to protect hundreds of thousands of families from losing their homes, which is integrated with the goals of the Ihsan platform in supporting the most needy groups.
The importance of the event in the context of Vision 2030
This announcement is particularly significant in light of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , which seeks to increase the contribution of the non-profit sector to the GDP and promote the values of social solidarity. The Ihsan platform is a prime example of leveraging digital transformation to maximize the impact of charitable work and ensure its sustainability through impactful initiatives such as the Ihsan Endowment Fund.
This achievement reflects the Kingdom’s success in building a robust digital infrastructure capable of managing charitable financial flows with high reliability, making it a regional and international role model in the governance of digital charitable work.
