The Ministry of Education launches mandatory training programs through the Abaad platform

The Saudi Ministry of Education has announced the launch of a comprehensive package of mandatory e-training programs through the “Ab’aad” platform, targeting all its teaching and administrative staff. This strategic step comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance sustainable professional development and raise the efficiency of its human capital, in line with the objectives of the National Transformation Program and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The context of digital transformation in education
This initiative is not an isolated event, but rather a link in a continuous chain of the Kingdom's efforts to digitize the government sector. Since the launch of Vision 2030, the education sector has witnessed radical transformations, beginning with school management systems like "Noor," followed by the "Madrasati" platform, which spearheaded distance learning globally during the pandemic, and culminating in the "Ab'aad" platform, which now focuses on developing human capital. Through these platforms, the Ministry aims to create an integrated digital work environment that eliminates paper transactions and enhances the accuracy and speed of completion.
Training and professional incentive mechanism
The ministry explained that access to the programs is easy and convenient through the unified national access system, ensuring data reliability. The platform is also user-friendly, allowing users to track their progress in the "My Courses" section. To guarantee seriousness and quality, the ministry has linked the completion of these courses to professional development points for teachers and training points for administrators, requiring a minimum passing grade of 80% to obtain accredited certificates, which are issued automatically upon fulfillment of the requirements.
Key training programs and their objectives
At this stage, the ministry focused on three key pillars of the modern work environment:
- Risk Management (2 hours): Aims to establish corporate governance concepts and enable employees to predict and address risks before they occur.
- Cybersecurity (2 hours): A vital program in light of global digital threats, seeking to protect the data of the Ministry and its employees and spread a culture of security compliance.
- Performance Management (2.5 hours): It moves employees from the traditional evaluation concept to continuous performance management to ensure job fairness and achieve strategic goals.
Expected impact locally and institutionally
This training initiative is expected to bring about a qualitative leap in the institutional performance of the Ministry of Education, the largest government entity in terms of the number of employees. At the local level, raising awareness of cybersecurity and risk management will contribute to protecting the national digital infrastructure. Administratively, implementing modern performance management concepts will improve the quality of educational services provided to students and the community, thus enhancing the Kingdom's standing in international education efficiency indicators.
