The Crown Prince receives a message from the President of Tanzania to strengthen bilateral relations
In the context of strengthening cooperation and deepening diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and friendly African nations, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a written message from Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The message addressed ways to support and develop the robust bilateral relations between the two countries and their friendly peoples, and discussed prospects for cooperation in various fields.
The message was received on behalf of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, during his meeting today at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo. During the meeting, they reviewed the overall bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to enhance them to broader levels in a way that serves mutual interests.
Strategic context and growing relationships
This message comes at a crucial time, coinciding with a surge in Saudi diplomatic activity towards the African continent. The Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, is deeply committed to strengthening partnerships with African nations. This ongoing engagement reflects the outcomes of the recent Saudi-African Summit held in Riyadh, which laid the foundation for a new phase of strategic, economic, and security cooperation between the Kingdom and the countries of the African continent.
The importance of Saudi-Tanzanian relations
Saudi-Tanzanian relations are of particular importance given Tanzania's strategic geographic location in East Africa and its access to the Indian Ocean, making it a vital trade gateway. The two countries share common visions on many regional and international issues, especially regarding enhancing security and stability in the Red Sea region and the Horn of Africa. Furthermore, in line with its Vision 2030, the Kingdom seeks to diversify its economic partnerships and increase foreign investment, with Tanzania representing a promising destination for investment in the agriculture, tourism, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
The exchange of messages and visits between officials in the two countries confirms the shared political desire to advance cooperation, not only bilaterally, but also within the framework of international organizations and Islamic cooperation, which strengthens the Kingdom’s leading role and pivotal position as a reliable development partner in the African continent.
