The Crown Prince and the German Chancellor discuss strengthening relations in Riyadh

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received at the Royal Court in Al-Yamamah Palace in the capital Riyadh this evening, the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, where an official reception ceremony was held in his honor to welcome his visit to the Kingdom.

Official talks session to enhance cooperation

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the German Chancellor held an extensive official meeting, which His Royal Highness began by welcoming the Kingdom's guest and emphasizing the deep-rooted relations between the two friendly countries. For his part, the German Chancellor expressed his great pleasure at visiting the Kingdom and meeting His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, praising the remarkable progress the Kingdom is witnessing across all sectors.

During the session, a comprehensive review was conducted of the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Republic of Germany, and opportunities for developing them in various vital sectors were discussed, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

Strategic and economic dimensions of the visit

This visit is of particular importance given the economic and geopolitical shifts the world is witnessing, as Saudi Arabia and Germany are both pillars of the G20. These discussions come at a time when the Kingdom is seeking to strengthen its international partnerships to achieve the goals of Vision 2030, especially in the fields of renewable energy, industry, and technology—areas in which Germany possesses leading global expertise.

The talks also touched on the latest regional and international developments, with emphasis placed on the importance of joint coordination and efforts to enhance security and stability in the region and the world, reflecting the political weight of the two countries and their active role in addressing complex international issues.

The talks were attended by a high-level Saudi delegation that included: His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy; His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers; His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region; and His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard.

Also participating in the talks were His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture; His Excellency Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers and National Security Advisor; His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce; His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance (the accompanying minister); His Excellency Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment; and Fahd Al-Hathal, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Germany.

On the German side, the following were present: State Secretary and Federal Government Spokesperson Stephan Cornelius, German Ambassador to the Kingdom Michael Kindsgrab, Advisor to the Federal Chancellor on Foreign and Security Policy Günter Sautter, Advisor to the Federal Chancellor on Economic and Financial Policy Levin Höhl, and a number of senior officials in the German government.
