This visit is part of His Highness's inspection tours of development projects and his keenness to follow up on the affairs of citizens and visitors in the city of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was accompanied during the visit by a high-level delegation that included His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Madinah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers and senior officials.

The historical and religious significance of Quba Mosque

The Quba Mosque holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims worldwide, as it is the first mosque built in Islam. It was founded by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself upon his arrival in Medina after migrating from Mecca. A hadith (saying of the Prophet) attests to its virtue: “Whoever purifies himself in his house and then goes to the Quba Mosque and prays therein will have the reward of performing Umrah.” This historical and spiritual significance makes the mosque a major destination for Muslims visiting Medina, and the Crown Prince’s visit underscores the state’s commitment to preserving this great Islamic heritage and facilitating access for worshippers and visitors.

A visit in the context of a massive development project

This visit gains added significance as it coincides with the King Salman Project for the Expansion of Quba Mosque and the Development of its Surrounding Area, the largest expansion in the mosque's history. The project aims to increase the mosque's capacity to 66,000 worshippers and comprehensively develop the surrounding area to preserve its unique Islamic architectural style and enhance the visitor experience. The Crown Prince's visit reflects his close monitoring of these mega-projects, which fall under the Kingdom's Vision 2030. These projects aim to serve Islam and Muslims and provide the best possible services to pilgrims, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a leader of the Islamic world and the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the holy sites.
