The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice: A comprehensive plan to serve the pilgrims of the Sacred House of God

His Excellency the President General of the General Presidency for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Sanad, affirmed the Presidency's complete readiness to launch a comprehensive package of awareness and technological initiatives and programs dedicated to serving pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 AH. These efforts, under the slogan "Welcome," aim to provide an integrated system combining human expertise and modern technologies across various entry points and pilgrim cities throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A history full of care and attention to the guests of God
Since the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God have mercy on him – the wise leadership has placed the care of the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors at the forefront of its priorities. Within this historical context, the General Presidency for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has emerged as a cornerstone in guiding and advising pilgrims. These efforts have evolved over the decades, transforming from traditional, direct guidance to a comprehensive institutional system aligned with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and facilitate the performance of their rituals with complete peace and ease, in accordance with the noble Prophetic teachings.
Extensive field efforts to facilitate service for pilgrims to the Sacred House of God
Dr. Al-Sanad explained that the Presidency's participation this year has witnessed a qualitative and tangible development aimed at raising the level of services provided. Field coverage has expanded to include 10 key regions in the Kingdom, through the establishment of 66 diverse locations, including field awareness centers, border crossings, pilgrim cities, and various awareness points. To ensure the best possible service for pilgrims to the Holy Mosque, approximately 900 field and administrative staff members from the Presidency have been assigned, supported by a select group of qualified translators proficient in 15 international languages. Sign language interpretation is also provided to facilitate communication with pilgrims with special needs and from various nationalities. Furthermore, the Presidency has focused on enhancing the efficiency of its staff by implementing 31 training, academic, and skills-based programs to improve the quality of field performance.
Using modern technologies in awareness and guidance
In light of the Kingdom's comprehensive digital transformation, the Presidency has not overlooked the technological aspect, providing 15 modern and innovative technological services. These services include a vast educational content package comprising 965 written, audio, and video materials, translated into 15 languages. Among these technologies are the "Mabroor" application, 3D augmented reality technologies, Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, live streaming via Wi-Fi networks, interactive platforms, educational maps, and smart mobile screens that ensure the guidance message reaches pilgrims wherever they are.
Local and international impact reflects the Kingdom's bright image
These tremendous efforts have far-reaching dimensions and impacts. Locally, this system contributes to managing crowd movement and easing the burden on security and health authorities through proactive awareness campaigns and accurate guidance. Regionally and internationally, providing awareness services in multiple languages and using the latest technologies reflects the bright, civilized image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirms its leadership in the Islamic world. This profound attention leaves a deep positive impression on pilgrims returning home, who carry with them a positive image of the tolerance, organization, and warm hospitality they received.
His Excellency Dr. Al-Sanad concluded his statement by urging all Presidency staff to redouble their efforts and dedicate themselves to their work in order to present a distinguished image that reflects excellence and professionalism. He also expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, Minister of Interior, in recognition of their generous and continuous support for all that facilitates the journey of the pilgrims.
