The Non-Profit Sector Forum in Riyadh concludes with 43 global agreements and initiatives

The Saudi capital, Riyadh, concluded the first edition of the International Non-Profit Sector Forum (Beyond Profit) , organized by the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development, with a remarkable attendance of over 3,800 participants from leaders, experts and decision-makers, in an event that represents a strategic turning point for the future of developmental and social work in the Kingdom and the region.
Strategic context and ambitious vision
This forum is being held at a crucial time, coinciding with the comprehensive development drive underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030. The non-profit sector aims to be a cornerstone of economic and social development, with the Vision seeking to increase its contribution to the GDP to 5% and reach one million volunteers by 2030. This forum is a practical embodiment of these objectives, providing a global platform for exchanging expertise and building partnerships that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of non-profit organizations.
Partnerships and agreements to enhance the sector's infrastructure
The forum witnessed significant activity in terms of partnerships, with the signing of more than 43 agreements and memoranda of understanding between governmental, private, and non-profit entities. These agreements focused on vital areas including:
- Institutional development and improving operational efficiency.
- Digital transformation and data management to enhance transparency.
- Supporting scientific research and human capacity development.
The National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development also announced two qualitative initiatives: the Non-Profit Sector Insurance Initiative (WASQ) and the Non-Profit Sector Research Awards Initiative, which aim to provide a safe and stimulating work environment for innovation.
International presence and broad participation
Over three days, the forum hosted more than 100 speakers from within the Kingdom and abroad, who participated in more than 30 panel discussions and 25 specialized workshops. Participants discussed ways to enhance the economic and social impact of the sector and reviewed global best practices in social investment and governance.
Coinciding with International Volunteer Day
In a symbolic gesture, the forum's closing coincided with International Volunteer Day on December 5th. To mark the occasion, the National Volunteer Work Award ceremony was held, honoring 37 winners across various categories, including individuals, organizations, and volunteer initiatives. The center also launched the Corporate Volunteer Network, a step aimed at institutionalizing volunteer work in the private sector and linking it to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The CEO of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Suwailem, affirmed that the forum reflects the Kingdom's commitment to leading the global transformation in this sector. The forum's outcomes are expected to contribute to:

- Promoting a culture of giving and community engagement in a more professional manner.
- To consolidate Riyadh’s position as an international center for innovation in social and developmental solutions.
