The coalition condemns the targeting of the commander of the Second Brigade of the Giants in Lahj

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen strongly condemned the treacherous terrorist attack that targeted the convoy of Brigadier General Hamdi Shukri, commander of the Second Brigade of the Giants Forces, and his companions in the Ja'awla area of Lahj Governorate. Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki stated that this criminal act, which occurred Wednesday evening and resulted in a number of martyrs and wounded, is contrary to all human and moral values and has no connection whatsoever to religion or custom.
In his remarks on the incident, Major General Al-Maliki offered the sincere condolences of the Coalition leadership to the families of the martyrs, praying that God Almighty grant them His mercy and wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded. He affirmed that the Coalition is closely monitoring the details of this heinous attack, emphasizing that such desperate attempts will not deter the national forces from fulfilling their duty.
Context of events and the importance of the Giants forces
This incident comes at a sensitive time for the liberated provinces, where the Giants Brigades play a pivotal role in the military balance of power on the ground. The Giants Brigades are among the most prominent military formations that have effectively contributed to repelling the Houthi militias from vast areas, particularly on the western coast and in the Shabwa and Lahj governorates. Observers indicate that targeting prominent leaders within this formation aims to sow confusion and destabilize the security achieved through immense sacrifices, and to create a security vacuum in the vital areas connecting the southern provinces.
The coalition's commitment to security and stability
Major General Al-Maliki emphasized that the Coalition continues its close coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the security of citizens and maintain stability, stemming from its humanitarian and moral duty towards the brotherly Yemeni people. He called on all Yemeni factions to unite, set aside their differences, and work as a unified team with the legitimate government and security and military institutions to counter any attempts at sabotage. He affirmed that terrorist operations targeting the security and stability of the liberated governorates and Yemeni society in general will not succeed in achieving their malicious goals of undermining social peace.
Pursuing the perpetrators and drying up the sources of terrorism
In closing, the official spokesperson affirmed the Coalition's unwavering commitment to supporting Yemeni security efforts to pursue those involved in this criminal act and bring them to justice to receive their due punishment. He also emphasized the continued steadfast support for Yemeni security and military forces, noting the necessity of concerted local and international efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its ideological and financial sources. Al-Maliki concluded with a strongly worded message, asserting that the Coalition will respond decisively to anyone who dares to target Aden and the liberated governorates, or to threaten the security and safety of all segments of Yemeni society.
