Through its participation as a strategic sponsor in the Saudi General Aviation Exhibition "Sand & Fun 2025," the Second Airports Cluster reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to leading the transformation of the Kingdom's air transport sector. The Cluster's participation focused on showcasing innovative operational experience concepts, digital transformation, and streamlined travel procedures, aligning with its comprehensive strategy to enhance integration among the Kingdom's airports and provide a seamless travel experience for passengers.
Strategic context and alignment with Vision 2030
This significant participation comes at a time when the Saudi aviation sector is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by the goals of Vision 2030 and the National Aviation Strategy, which aims to increase airport capacity and connect the Kingdom to 250 international destinations. The "Second Airports Cluster," which manages and operates 22 domestic, regional, and tourist airports across the Kingdom, plays a pivotal role in achieving these objectives by developing infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency to support economic and tourism development in various regions.
Mega projects: Jazan New Airport
The group showcased its vision for the future at its pavilion at the exhibition, highlighting the new Jazan Airport project, a significant leap forward for the southern region. Designed to accommodate 5.4 million passengers annually, the airport spans a vast area of 57,000 square meters. To ensure smooth passenger flow, it is equipped with 32 check-in counters, 13 boarding gates, a 3.6-kilometer runway, and parking for 2,000 vehicles, thus supporting the rapidly growing economic and tourism sectors in the Jazan region.
Development of Al-Jawf Airport and Air Transport
In parallel with the southern projects, the consortium revealed details of the Al-Jawf Airport development, which has increased its capacity to 1.6 million passengers annually, covering an area of 24,000 square meters. The project features an advanced operational infrastructure designed to enhance service quality and keep pace with the growing number of passengers in the northern region, thus reinforcing the airport's position as a vital transportation hub.
International and local partnerships to promote innovation
The group's participation was not limited to showcasing infrastructure; it also included signing strategic agreements that shape the future of aviation. The group signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Saudi Aviation Club to establish a framework supporting events and programs related to general aviation. In a further step towards the future, the group signed a memorandum of understanding with aviation giant Boeing to explore opportunities for implementing advanced air transport solutions at the group's airports and to study projects that contribute to building an integrated and sustainable air transport system.
This strong presence at "Sand & Fun 2025" reflects the commitment of the Second Airports Group to building bridges of cooperation with local and international partners, to ensure the provision of airport services that meet global standards and fulfill the aspirations of travelers.
