The Crown Prince and the Egyptian President discuss regional developments
The city of Jeddah witnessed today a significant summit meeting, where His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met with his brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. This strategic meeting focused on reviewing and discussing developments in the regional situation, in light of the rapidly evolving challenges facing the Middle East.
At the beginning of the fraternal meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince and the Egyptian President exchanged greetings and congratulations on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Fitr, asking God Almighty to accept the good deeds of all, and to bring this happy occasion back to the two brotherly countries and peoples, and to the entire Islamic nation, with blessings, glory, empowerment, and more progress, prosperity and flourishing.
The roots of the strategic alliance between Riyadh and Cairo
This summit is a continuation of the long history of fraternal relations and close strategic ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Riyadh and Cairo have long formed the twin pillars of Arab national security, with the region's stability heavily dependent on continuous coordination and ongoing consultation between the two leaderships. Historically, the two countries have stood shoulder to shoulder in confronting numerous regional and international crises, making their alliance a cornerstone for ensuring geopolitical balance in the Middle East and a formidable bulwark against foreign interventions aimed at destabilizing Arab states.
Coordinating efforts to contain developments in the regional situation
During the extensive meeting, a comprehensive and detailed discussion took place regarding regional developments, with the repercussions of the recent military escalation in the Middle East taking center stage. The two leaders discussed the direct impact of this escalation on the security and stability of the region and the world at large. They also emphasized the need to coordinate Arab and international efforts to contain these crises and prevent the region from sliding into wider conflicts that could jeopardize international peace and security.
In a related context, it was emphasized unequivocally during the meeting that the repeated hostile Iranian attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the targeting of vital and civilian facilities therein, constitute a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region, as well as being a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions.
Dimensions of Egyptian solidarity and its regional and international impact
For his part, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated during the meeting the Arab Republic of Egypt's strong condemnation of the repeated and heinous Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and other countries in the region. His Excellency affirmed Egypt's unwavering and steadfast position of standing in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any threat to its sovereignty and national security. This stance reflects a fundamental Egyptian principle that considers the security of the Arabian Gulf an integral part of Egyptian national security, sending a strong message to the international community that the Arab alliance is cohesive and capable of protecting its resources, which positively impacts the stability of global energy markets and international shipping lanes.

This important meeting was attended by high-level delegations from both countries, reflecting the paramount importance of the issues discussed. From the Saudi side, attendees included Minister of State and Cabinet Member for Shura Council Affairs, Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed; Advisor at the Royal Court, Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri; Head of General Intelligence, Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan; Secretary to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Dr. Bandar bin Obaid Al-Rasheed; and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Saleh Al-Hussaini.
