SAR launches round 6 of its "Safer Lak 2025" campaign to promote safety
The first phase of the 2025 field safety campaign, launched by Saudi Railways (SAR) under the slogan “Safer for You,” will begin tomorrow, Friday, in Al-Zulfi Governorate. This marks the launch of the sixth phase of the ongoing awareness campaign, which primarily aims to raise safety and security levels across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s railway network, building on the successes achieved by the initiative over the past three years.
Promoting a culture of safety and community awareness
This current campaign is part of a series of national initiatives adopted by SAR to instill safety awareness across all segments of society. The sixth edition of the campaign, launched in 2025, focuses on promoting safe behaviors around railways and combating negative phenomena that could threaten lives and property. Through these field efforts, the company aims to create an informed environment that understands the importance of adhering to the regulations and guidelines governing railway right-of-way.
Legal dimensions and deterrent penalties
As part of its efforts to curb violations, the “Safer for You” campaign highlights the serious dangers of illegally crossing railway lines. The campaign works to raise public awareness of the strict penalties stipulated by Saudi regulations, which can include fines of up to 500,000 Saudi Riyals , imprisonment, or both, to deter offenders and protect lives from the risk of being struck by vehicles or causing train accidents.
Targeting the most vulnerable groups
SAR designed its campaign plan to cover a wide geographical and social scope, directly targeting residents of villages and settlements adjacent to railway lines, as well as livestock owners and herders, campers and off-road enthusiasts, and school students in those areas. This focus stems from the fact that these groups have the most frequent contact with locations near railways, necessitating intensified awareness messages to ensure their use of designated and safe crossings.
Compliance with the National Transport Strategy
This campaign is inseparable from the general context of the renaissance witnessed by the transport sector in the Kingdom, as the objectives of “Safer for You” are in line with the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy stemming from the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The safety of railway networks is a fundamental pillar to ensure the reliability and efficiency of rail transport, whether for passengers or goods, which enhances the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub linking the three continents, and ensures safe and sustainable transportation for citizens and residents.
