Asir: Resident arrested for transporting 5 violators of border security regulations

As part of the ongoing efforts of Saudi security forces to maintain the security and stability of the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Mujahideen announced a new security achievement in the Asir region. Its patrols apprehended a Pakistani resident for his involvement in transporting five individuals who violated border security regulations, in an operation that reflects the high level of vigilance of Saudi forces in confronting illegal activities.

According to the released details, the resident was using his private vehicle to transport the violators, who were of Ethiopian nationality, in an attempt to facilitate their illegal entry into the country. All parties involved were apprehended, and initial legal procedures were initiated against them, pending referral of the violators to the competent authorities and the transporter to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and application of the penalties stipulated by law.

The general context of Saudi border security efforts

This operation is part of the broader context of intensive security campaigns being carried out by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, such as the “A Nation Without Violators” campaign, which aims to strengthen border control and combat illegal immigration and related crimes such as human trafficking and smuggling. The Kingdom faces ongoing security challenges along its vast southern border, requiring constant vigilance and integrated efforts from various military and security sectors to ensure the safety of its territory.

The importance of the Asir region and its geographical challenges

These efforts are particularly important in the Asir region, given its rugged geography and complex mountainous terrain, which makes it a potential route for infiltrators and smugglers. Border Guard forces, the General Directorate of Mujahideen, and other security agencies work around the clock to secure this vital area and prevent any attempts to breach regulations, utilizing the latest technologies and equipment to monitor suspicious movements.

Strict penalties and a clear deterrent message

Saudi authorities have repeatedly stressed that any leniency regarding border security is a red line. The official spokesperson for the General Directorate of Mujahideen confirmed that the penalties for facilitating the entry, transport, or harboring of those violating border security regulations are severe and deterrent, reaching up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of up to one million Saudi riyals. In addition, the penalties include confiscation of the vehicle and residence used in the crime, and public shaming of those involved, as it is considered a major crime that violates honor and integrity and warrants arrest.

In this regard, security authorities reiterate their call to citizens and residents to cooperate and immediately report any suspected violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations. Reports can be made via the designated numbers (911) in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and (999) or (996) in the rest of the Kingdom. All reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
