In a move reflecting the diplomatic weight of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the regional and international stages, His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, headed the Kingdom's delegation participating in the 16th meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. These meetings commenced in the Bahraini capital, Manama, amidst broad international participation aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation frameworks among Asian countries.
Praise for Saudi Arabia's pivotal role towards Palestine
The opening session witnessed widespread praise for the leading role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Arab and Islamic causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. The Speaker of the Bahraini Parliament and President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, commended Riyadh's tireless and ongoing efforts, particularly the recent diplomatic initiatives in partnership with the French Republic, aimed at garnering international recognition of an independent Palestinian state.
This praise comes within a long historical context of unlimited Saudi support for the Palestinian people, as the Kingdom is considered one of the first countries to support Palestinian rights in international forums, adhering to the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions as fundamental pillars for a just and comprehensive solution.

More than 190 representatives from 27 countries, parliaments, and international organizations are participating in this important event, reflecting its strategic significance in shaping the future of Asian cooperation.
This axis is gaining particular importance in light of the geopolitical tensions the world is witnessing, as parliaments are seen as a vital bridge for popular and official communication, and a soft power capable of overcoming political differences by promoting the ancient cultural and civilizational commonalities that abound in the Asian continent.
Support for the two-state solution and the New York Declaration
In a related context, Al-Muslim welcomed the UN General Assembly's adoption of the "New York Declaration," which affirms the necessity of a peaceful settlement to the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. This Asian parliamentary support is a strong bolster to official diplomatic efforts and underscores the growing international consensus on the need to end the conflict in accordance with UN resolutions.
Strengthening joint parliamentary action
The Saudi delegation, headed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh, discussed with their Asian counterparts ways to deepen joint coordination and exchange legislative expertise.
