Tanzanian twins Laytience and Lovence arrive in Riyadh for separation surgery

In accordance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect them - the Saudi capital, Riyadh, today received the Tanzanian conjoined twins (Lyteens and Lovens) accompanied by their parents, arriving from the United Republic of Tanzania via King Khalid International Airport.
Upon their arrival, the specialized medical teams transferred the twins to King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital of the Ministry of National Guard, in order to immediately begin conducting thorough medical examinations and studying their condition from all aspects, in preparation for considering the possibility of performing a surgical separation operation, in a step that reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to humanitarian work.
The Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins: Global Leadership and a Rich History
The arrival of the Tanzanian twins is a continuation of the distinguished history of the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins, one of the largest medical and humanitarian programs in the world. Since its inception in 1990, the program has reviewed more than 130 cases from over 50 countries and performed dozens of successful operations, marking unprecedented medical achievements and establishing Saudi Arabia as an international leader in this precise and complex medical specialty.
Human dimensions that transcend borders
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and Head of the Medical Team, affirmed that this generous initiative embodies the noble humanitarian values upheld by the Kingdom. He pointed out that the Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, spares no effort in providing assistance to those in need and alleviating human suffering wherever it may be, regardless of race, religion, or geographical boundaries, thus solidifying its global standing as the “Kingdom of Humanity.”.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the wise leadership for the great support that the medical sector and humanitarian work receive, stressing that the Saudi program for separating conjoined twins reflects the tremendous development that the health sector in the Kingdom has reached, and the efficiency of the Saudi medical staff who have become globally competitive in the most precise surgical specialties.
For their part, the family of the Tanzanian twins (Lightness and Lovence) expressed their deepest thanks and gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, government and people, for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, appreciating the rapid response to their children’s condition, and praying to God to protect the Kingdom and its leadership and to crown the medical efforts with success.
