More than 217 fake Hajj campaigns were shut down in Saudi Arabia

In a decisive step to ensure the safety of pilgrims, the commander of the Hajj security forces announced the successful dismantling of over 217 fraudulent Hajj campaigns across Saudi Arabia. This announcement underscores the vigilance of the relevant authorities in combating any attempts to exploit pilgrims and ensuring a smooth and peaceful Hajj season. The statement was made during a press conference held by Hajj security forces leaders, which highlighted the extensive security and organizational preparations for this year's pilgrimage.
During the press conference, the commander of the Hajj security forces explained that all roads and routes leading to the holy sites have been fully prepared. These preparations aim to facilitate the movement of large crowds, prevent overcrowding, and ensure smooth traffic flow for both vehicles and pedestrians, reflecting the high level of readiness of all sectors involved in serving the pilgrims and providing them with a safe and comfortable environment.
The Kingdom's efforts to combat fraudulent Hajj campaigns are evolving
Over the past decades, the Saudi Arabian government has placed great importance on regulating the Hajj pilgrimage and protecting pilgrims from any illegal practices. Historically, the phenomenon of fraudulent Hajj campaigns has posed a seasonal challenge, with some violators exploiting Muslims' desire to perform the pilgrimage by making false promises of permits and nonexistent services. With the technological advancements and digital transformation underway in the Kingdom as part of Vision 2030, official electronic platforms such as the "Nusk" platform and the "Absher" application have been launched, significantly reducing this phenomenon and streamlining official procedures.
The recent announcement of the crackdown on these violating campaigns represents an extension of ongoing historical efforts aimed at governing the Hajj and Umrah sector and applying the strictest penalties against violators, which include imprisonment, financial fines and deportation for residents, reflecting the state’s determination to implement regulations and instructions.
The strategic dimensions of securing the pilgrims and its comprehensive impact
Firmly addressing violations and apprehending those promoting fraudulent services is of paramount importance, extending beyond local boundaries to the regional and international levels. Locally, this measure strengthens the rule of law and protects the national economy from unlicensed entities, while also alleviating the burden on infrastructure, healthcare, and security services in Mecca and the Holy Sites, which are designed and equipped to accommodate specific numbers as per the official permits granted.
At the regional and international levels, these stringent measures send a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide and to diplomatic missions concerned with Hajj affairs in various countries. They affirm that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places the safety and security of pilgrims at the forefront of its priorities and operates with complete transparency to protect their material and moral rights. Furthermore, international cooperation in raising awareness about the dangers of dealing with unauthorized agencies contributes to reducing the number of pilgrims falling victim to fraud, thus solidifying the Kingdom's position as a trustworthy custodian and vigilant guardian of the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
