The Kingdom's historic efforts in combating fake Hajj service advertisements
For decades, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed great importance on organizing the Hajj pilgrimage and protecting pilgrims from any form of exploitation, whether financial or otherwise. Historically, unregulated Hajj campaigns have posed a security and organizational challenge, prompting authorities to launch stringent technological and security initiatives, such as the Nusuk platform and electronic Hajj permits linked to national identity. Combating any attempt to provide fraudulent Hajj services is not a recent development, but rather an extension of a comprehensive national strategy aimed at eliminating all forms of manipulation that could disrupt the smooth flow of pilgrims and affect the quality of services provided to them in the holy sites.
Security and organizational dimensions of controlling violators of Hajj regulations
These proactive security measures are of paramount importance on several levels. Domestically, they reinforce the rule of law and ensure that resources and health, security, and logistical services in the holy sites are directed solely to registered pilgrims, thus preventing overcrowding and chaotic congestion that could endanger lives. Regionally and internationally, the firm application of penalties sends a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide, affirming that the Kingdom is vigilant against anyone who dares to compromise the security and safety of the pilgrims. This also contributes to raising awareness among pilgrims arriving from abroad about the necessity of dealing exclusively with official, accredited channels and avoiding unlicensed brokers.
A call for compliance and reporting of violators
In this context, the Public Security Directorate urged all citizens, residents, and visitors to fully comply with Hajj regulations and instructions, strongly warning against being misled by deceptive advertisements on social media. The Ministry of Interior called on everyone to report any individuals or entities promoting unauthorized Hajj campaigns by calling 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions, or 999 in the rest of the Kingdom, to ensure the success of the Hajj season and the comfort of the pilgrims.
