As part of intensive security efforts to ensure the safety of pilgrims, Hajj security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt and apprehended four residents who tried to enter Mecca without a Hajj permit . Specifically, an Egyptian resident was involved in transporting three other Egyptian residents, whom he concealed inside a truck in an attempt to bypass security checkpoints and violate established Hajj regulations.
The importance of obtaining a Hajj permit to ensure the safety of pilgrims
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places great importance on crowd management during the Hajj season, and the Hajj permit a cornerstone of this organization. Historically, previous Hajj seasons decades ago presented significant challenges due to unregulated numbers, prompting the Saudi leadership to establish and gradually develop the permit system. This system aims to align the number of pilgrims with the spatial capacity of the holy sites (Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat), which are governed by geographical and legal boundaries that cannot be exceeded. Through modern technologies and digital platforms, obtaining permits has become a well-organized process that ensures the provision of healthcare, accommodation, and safe movement for every pilgrim, thus preventing overcrowding and protecting lives.
Details of apprehending violators and public security procedures
Saudi Public Security confirmed that the four violating residents were apprehended immediately upon their arrest, and all necessary legal and regulatory procedures were taken against them, including the application of penalties stipulated for violating Hajj regulations. In this context, Public Security reiterated its urgent appeal to all citizens and residents to fully comply with Hajj regulations and instructions. It also urged everyone to cooperate and report any violators or fraudulent campaigns by calling 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions, or 999 in the rest of the Kingdom.
The positive impact of implementing regulations locally and internationally
The strict enforcement of security regulations and the prohibition of unauthorized entry to the Holy Sites have a far-reaching positive impact. Locally, this helps alleviate the burden on infrastructure, medical personnel, and security forces, allowing them to provide high-quality services to authorized pilgrims. Regionally and internationally, these decisive measures send a reassuring message to the entire Muslim world, underscoring the Kingdom's exceptional capabilities and professionalism in managing the world's largest annual gathering of people. This organizational success further solidifies Saudi Arabia's leading international position in crowd and crisis management.
Success of the first phase of the security plan for pilgrims
In conjunction with these field efforts, the Ministry of Interior's security spokesman, Brigadier General Talal bin Abdulmohsen bin Shalhoub, announced during the second press briefing for the Hajj season the successful completion of the first phase of the 1447 AH Hajj security plan. Brigadier General bin Shalhoub noted the successful movement of pilgrims to Mina for the Day of Tarwiyah, characterized by smooth traffic flow and meticulous organization, in preparation for their ascent to Arafat. He concluded his statement by affirming that the pilgrims had arrived in the Kingdom safely and securely through various air, land, and sea ports, receiving comprehensive care and attention from all sectors of the government.
