Aramco's Ramadan campaign: Aid reaching over 22,000 families in the Kingdom

A humanitarian initiative reflecting the spirit of the holy month
Embodying the values of giving and solidarity that characterize the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Aramco reinforced its corporate social responsibility efforts through its annual Ramadan campaign, which witnessed remarkable success this year. The company, in collaboration with its partners and thousands of volunteers, distributed more than 22,000 food boxes as part of the “Blue Box” initiative, aiming to support underprivileged families across the Kingdom and provide for their basic needs during the holy month.
Background of the initiative and its societal importance
This campaign is part of Saudi Aramco’s longstanding commitment to the local community, a commitment that spans decades. The company has consistently been a pioneer in launching initiatives aimed at sustainable development and improving quality of life. These efforts take on particular significance during Ramadan, a major religious and social occasion in the Kingdom, when individuals and institutions compete to do good deeds, making initiatives like the “Blue Box” a cornerstone in strengthening social cohesion. The campaign was implemented in strategic partnership with the Saudi Food Bank “Itaam,” a leading non-profit organization in food preservation and distribution, ensuring that aid reaches those in need efficiently and effectively.
Record numbers and inspiring volunteer efforts
This year's initiative witnessed an exceptional turnout of volunteers, with 2,565 company employees and their families registering to participate in this charitable endeavor. These volunteers contributed a remarkable 14,240 hours of service, dedicated to packing and preparing food boxes. This figure represents a significant leap forward in the culture of volunteerism, with a 55% increase compared to last year, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of community engagement. The campaign covered a wide geographical area, encompassing major cities such as Dhahran, Abqaiq, Riyadh, Jeddah, Ras Tanura, Duba, and Tabuk, ensuring the broadest possible positive impact.
Expected impact and alignment with Vision 2030
The impact of this initiative extends beyond direct financial support for families; it fosters a culture of organized teamwork and promotes active citizenship. The “Blue Box” campaign is more than just temporary assistance; it has become a tool for community empowerment. These efforts align directly with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to develop the non-profit sector and increase the number of volunteers to one million by 2030. By encouraging its employees to volunteer and increase their donations, Aramco contributes to building a vibrant and cohesive society. Following the success of this initiative, the company is preparing to launch its annual employee donation campaign, which will support vital sectors such as health, education, and community development, in accordance with the principles of Zakat (Islamic almsgiving), thus ensuring the continuation of this journey of giving and development.
