Details of the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers
Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the Ministers of Interior of the Arab States, convened today, Wednesday, for the 43rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, via video conference. The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to this important event was headed by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Honorary President of the Council.
During the meeting, His Highness delivered an opening address in which he conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister – may God protect them both – expressing the aspirations of the wise leadership that this meeting would contribute to strengthening joint Arab security cooperation efforts. In his address, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud touched upon the delicate circumstances the region is experiencing, pointing to the blatant Iranian attacks targeting several Arab countries. In a related context, His Highness the Minister of Interior warned of the noticeable escalation in organized crime patterns, illicit drug trafficking, and the growing phenomenon of extremism and terrorism. He highlighted the dangers of cybercrime in light of rapid technological advancements, pointing to the growth of the synthetic drug economy and the exploitation of digital technologies by criminal networks for money laundering and human trafficking. He explained that ransomware attacks and digital fraud have become among the most widespread threats, especially with the increasing use of artificial intelligence tools, requiring unprecedented security vigilance.
Strategic dimensions of the current session's courses
The outcomes of this session are of exceptional importance at both the regional and international levels, as they lay the foundation for a new phase of Arab security integration. The decisions taken are expected to positively impact border security, develop early warning mechanisms, and activate joint operations rooms among member states.
