Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Riyadh will host the 2026 Annual Innovation Forum at the Ministry headquarters next Thursday. This prominent event aims to highlight the localization of modern technologies, achieve environmental sustainability, and enhance food and water security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Innovative technological solutions to enhance local content
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture explained that the event primarily aims to enhance and develop local content and increase the contribution of environmental sectors to the GDP through the adoption of advanced and sustainable technological solutions. The forum is witnessing broad participation from stakeholders and companies within the ecosystem, showcasing the latest technological innovations serving the Kingdom's environmental and agricultural sectors, making it a vital platform for launching impactful initiatives that support knowledge and technology localization efforts.
A history of environmental transformation culminates in the 2026 Annual Innovation Forum
The organization of this event comes as an extension of a series of historical initiatives and efforts undertaken by the Kingdom to develop the environmental and agricultural sectors. In recent years, the Kingdom has witnessed a radical transformation through the launch of the “Technology Adoption Roadmap” and the establishment of the “Saudi Alliance for Agricultural and Food Technologies,” which the Ministry recently launched to strengthen the system. Building on these past successes, this year’s forum seeks to accelerate the pace of digital and technological transformation, relying on a robust legislative and technological infrastructure developed over the past years to address environmental challenges such as water scarcity and climate change.
The forum's impact on food security and sustainability regionally and internationally
The importance of this event extends beyond the local level to encompass regional and international dimensions. Locally, the forum contributes to empowering national talent and providing a fertile environment for Saudi innovators to develop solutions suited to the Kingdom's desert environment. Regionally and internationally, Saudi Arabia's success in localizing smart and sustainable agricultural technologies offers an inspiring model for countries in the region facing similar climatic conditions and reinforces the Kingdom's position as a global leader in environmental and water innovation, in line with international sustainable development goals.
Strategic partnerships and dialogue sessions with the participation of elite experts
The forum's program is set to include the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the Ministry and participating entities, in addition to dialogue sessions and workshops featuring leading experts. The Ministry highlighted the role of the National Platform for Research and Innovation Foresight, "Nibras," the Intellectual Property Program, and the Regulatory Sandbox Program in building and developing an integrated innovation ecosystem. The Ministry emphasizes that adopting these innovations is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the sustainability of natural resources, in line with the Kingdom's aspirations for global leadership.
