Al-Rafia Municipality: Planting 6,000 trees and removing visual distortions

Al-Rafia Municipality intensified its field and oversight efforts last month, achieving record results in improving the urban landscape and enhancing the efficiency of services provided to residents. These efforts are part of a strategic plan aimed at meeting the aspirations of the community and achieving the objectives of the Quality of Life Program, a key pillar of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 for developing the urban and service environment in cities and governorates.

Promoting vegetation cover and environmental sustainability

In a move reflecting the growing interest in the environment and increasing green spaces, the municipality's Parks and Beautification Department successfully planted and landscaped 5,954 trees and roses, carefully distributed along main and secondary streets. The efforts extended beyond planting to include the maintenance and repair of extensive green areas totaling 8,750 square meters . This initiative is particularly significant as it contributes to lowering temperatures, purifying the air, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal that promotes the well-being of residents and visitors, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Green Initiatives.

Addressing visual distortions and improving road efficiency

Saud Al-Duwaish explained that the field teams paid great attention to the issue of visual pollution, as they were able to lift and remove 780 cubic meters of construction and demolition waste that was distorting the general appearance, in addition to obliterating and removing 12 meters of random writings on the walls.

Regarding infrastructure and traffic safety, the operation and maintenance teams completed vital work that included:

  • Repairing and maintaining a number of electrical transformers and lighting poles to ensure efficient lighting at night.
  • Addressing street potholes to ensure smooth traffic flow and protect vehicles from damage.

Health control and public hygiene

As part of maintaining public health, the sanitation department continued its tireless daily efforts, collecting and transporting 3,370 tons of household waste, reflecting the scale of the ongoing work to maintain a healthy environment free of pollutants.

In parallel, the inspection teams carried out 101 inspection tours of commercial establishments, which resulted in issuing 4 warnings to non-compliant establishments, in order to ensure the application of the highest safety standards and compliance with municipal regulations.

Al-Duwaish concluded his statement by emphasizing that these works are not temporary campaigns, but rather part of sustainable operational plans aimed at improving municipal services in Al-Rafia, stressing the continuation of work at the same pace to achieve an ideal urban environment.
