Al-Qahtani Council in Al-Khobar: Strengthening social bonds during Ramadan

In a warm and welcoming Ramadan atmosphere, businessman Ayed bin Farhan Al-Qahtani opened his majlis (gathering place) in Al-Khobar to receive well-wishers on the occasion of the holy month. A large number of dignitaries, prominent figures from the Eastern Province, business leaders, and members of various segments of society flocked to the majlis, in an annual event that reflects the deep social bonds and embodies the values of solidarity that characterize Saudi society.
Deeply rooted cultural heritage and a prominent social role
Majlis gatherings are a cornerstone of the cultural and social heritage of Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Gulf region in general. They are not merely meeting places, but rather open schools where traditions and values are passed down, platforms for dialogue and the exchange of knowledge and news, and forums for resolving community issues. Historically, majlis gatherings have played a pivotal role in strengthening ties between members of a tribe or neighborhood, serving as miniature parliaments where public affairs are discussed. During Ramadan, these gatherings acquire even greater significance, becoming a primary destination for families and friends after Taraweeh prayers, to exchange greetings and renew bonds of affection within the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month.
A platform to promote the values of communication and national unity
Sheikh Ayed Al-Qahtani's reception of well-wishers is a continuation of a long-standing social tradition, reflecting the importance of these gatherings and their prominent role in strengthening bonds among members of society. In this context, Al-Qahtani explained that these gatherings represent a fundamental pillar in building social relationships and strengthening ties of affection, emphasizing that the month of Ramadan is an important annual occasion to reinforce these values and renew the spirit of communication among everyone. For his part, Abdulrahman bin Ayed Al-Qahtani extended his warmest congratulations and blessings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman. He also congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, and His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor, asking God to bring the blessed month back to the nation with goodness, prosperity, and blessings.
Its importance extends from local to national
The impact of these gatherings extends beyond the local level, forming an integral part of the broader national fabric. They contribute effectively to achieving one of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030: building a vibrant and cohesive society. By bringing together diverse groups—officials, business leaders, intellectuals, and ordinary citizens—these meetings create a space for constructive dialogue and the exchange of views on the initiatives and activities taking place in the region. Attendees, including Mahmoud Al-Ratuai and Khazman Al-Shehri, noted that these Ramadan gatherings have become a prominent feature of the Eastern Province, reflecting the spirit and cohesion of the community and providing an opportunity to learn about initiatives that serve the public good, all under the guidance and support of the region's leadership. Mubarak Al-Dossari described these gatherings as "influential gatherings," as they leave a positive impact and contribute to reinforcing the core values upon which the Kingdom was founded.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees exchanged friendly conversations and congratulations, amidst prayers that God would perpetuate the blessings of security, safety and prosperity upon the nation, in a scene that affirms the authenticity of traditions and the depth of social ties that these councils are keen to maintain and consolidate generation after generation.
