Al-Maghlouth from Kuwait: Palestine is our primary cause, and developing Arab media is a necessity

On behalf of the Minister of Information, Mr. Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, the Assistant Minister of Information, Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Maghlouth, participated in the work of the (22) session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, which was hosted by the State of Kuwait today, under the chairmanship of the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Culture and Information of the State of Kuwait, Omar Al-Omar, and with a wide attendance of Ministers of Information and Heads of Media Delegations of Member States.

The centrality of the Palestinian issue in Arab discourse

At the outset of his remarks, Dr. Al-Maghlouth conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Information to the participants, emphasizing the firm principles of Arab media policy. The Palestinian cause took center stage, with the Assistant Minister of Information stressing that it remains "the foremost Arab cause," and calling for intensified media efforts to support it in all forums.

Al-Maghlouth pointed out the need for media support to go beyond mere news coverage to comprehensive advocacy with its political, humanitarian and human rights dimensions, in order to ensure that the Palestinian voice reaches the world and the facts are revealed, which reflects the permanent commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab countries to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Developing joint Arab media work

In a related context, the meeting discussed ways to develop the Arab media system to keep pace with rapid global changes. Dr. Al-Maghlouth commended the achievements made during the past period, particularly regarding the implementation of Arab media outreach plans abroad, which aim to correct misconceptions and combat the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism that has become a source of concern for the international community.

The “Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development” and the implementation plans for the Arab Media Education Strategy were also reviewed, in addition to the unified plan for dealing with environmental issues, reflecting the comprehensiveness of the Arab media vision and its interest in contemporary challenges.

Artificial intelligence and the future of media

The meeting also addressed the technical aspects, with Dr. Al-Maghlouth calling for maximizing the benefits of the digital revolution and artificial intelligence technologies in media content creation. He emphasized the importance of employing these technologies to enhance the quality of media content while maintaining professional ethics, credibility, and transparency.

He explained that enhancing cybersecurity in Arab media institutions and encouraging innovation in digital content is no longer a luxury option, but an urgent necessity to ensure competitiveness and protect Arab media sovereignty in the open digital space.

Strengthening Arab identity

The Assistant Minister of Information concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of collective action to showcase the Arab identity and its authentic culture, and to enhance the capabilities of Arab media professionals through continuous training and development. He expressed his gratitude to the State of Kuwait, its government and people, for their warm welcome and excellent organization, and to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States for its efforts in coordinating joint Arab action.
