This important meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2026 , which is the world’s leading event for discussing international security policies, where decision-makers from around the world meet to discuss current and future challenges.
Details of the Saudi-German talks
During the meeting, the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Republic of Germany were reviewed, along with ways to enhance them in various fields. Both sides focused on exploring opportunities for joint cooperation, particularly in the economic and technological sectors, given Bavaria's significant industrial and economic weight within Germany and Europe.
The two sides also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of common interest, stressing the importance of diplomatic dialogue in promoting global security and stability.
The importance of the Munich Security Conference
This meeting gains added significance as it takes place under the auspices of the Munich Security Conference, founded in 1963, which has evolved over the decades into a unique platform for international diplomacy. The Kingdom actively participates in this annual forum to reaffirm its pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and the world, and to present its vision on security and climate challenges.
Saudi relations with the Bavarian region
Bavaria is one of Europe's most important economic centers, home to the headquarters of major global companies in the automotive, technology, and engineering sectors. Al-Jubeir's discussions with the state's prime minister come within the context of the Kingdom's efforts to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 , which aims to diversify economic partnerships and attract high-quality investments, particularly in the renewable energy and advanced industries.
As a climate envoy, Al-Jubeir's meetings often touch on sustainability and environmental protection issues, areas of great interest to Germany, which opens up broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries in green economy initiatives and clean hydrogen technologies.
This meeting reflects the depth of the strategic relations that bind Riyadh and Berlin, and the keenness of the leadership in both countries to continue coordination and ongoing consultation in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples.
