Jubail Municipality Achievements 2025: Addressing Visual Pollution and Waste Removal

The Jubail Governorate Municipality achieved significant progress in its field performance during 2025, setting new records in improving the urban landscape and raising the level of public cleanliness. These achievements are the culmination of ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing waste management efficiency and boosting the city's visual appeal, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program, which prioritizes humanizing cities and the well-being of residents.

Huge statistics reflect the scale of the fieldwork
Official statistics revealed the massive scale of the work carried out by the field teams, with the municipality managing to remove more than 17,000 tons of household waste, in addition to handling more than 82,000 tons of solid waste. The efforts were not limited to traditional waste; they also included the removal of more than 265,000 cubic meters of construction and demolition debris, which had been posing an environmental and visual burden in some neighborhoods and vacant lots.
In a related context, the Mayor of Jubail Governorate, Engineer Badi Al-Qahtani, explained that these works included operating the mechanical sweepers for more than 32,000 working hours, reflecting the high operational efficiency of the equipment and personnel. The maintenance and rehabilitation plan also included the treatment of 4,984 waste containers to ensure their sustainability and effectiveness in serving residential neighborhoods.
The war on visual pollution: a national strategy
These campaigns gain particular importance when viewed within their broader national context; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places great importance on addressing visual pollution as part of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing's strategy. This strategy aims to transform Saudi cities into urban environments free from visual pollutants that negatively impact residents' mental health and distort the urban landscape.
In this context, Jubail Municipality succeeded in:
- 1828 billboards that violated regulations and distorted the public appearance were removed
- Erasing and repairing the defaced graffiti on walls covering an area exceeding 17,000 square meters .
These efforts not only contribute to beautifying the city, but also enhance community awareness of the importance of preserving public property and the civilized appearance of the governorate.
Environmental and economic impact of improving the urban landscape
Removing hundreds of thousands of tons of waste and debris not only improves the overall appearance but also has significant environmental and economic dimensions. Environmentally, waste removal helps reduce pollution, protects the soil, and prevents pest infestations, thus raising the level of environmental health in the governorate. Economically, clean cities, free from visual pollution, are attractive environments for investment and tourism, especially since Jubail is an industrial hub and a major economic destination in the Eastern Province.
Engineer Al-Qahtani concluded his statement by emphasizing that these achievements are part of a comprehensive and sustainable operational plan, stressing the municipality’s commitment to continuing to work according to the highest standards to serve beneficiaries and ensure the sustainability of the urban environment in a way that fulfills the aspirations of residents and visitors alike.
