Al-Jawf Gardens in Ramadan: A haven for families within the framework of Vision 2030

With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, evenings in the Al-Jawf region of northern Saudi Arabia turn into a vibrant social scene, as public parks and well-equipped sports fields attract large numbers of families and young people, becoming their main outlet after a day of fasting and worship.
These facilities are witnessing increasing demand, reflecting a change in social and recreational patterns during the holy month, as many prefer to spend their time outdoors, engage in physical activities, and strengthen social ties with family and friends.
Municipal efforts in line with Vision 2030
This vibrant atmosphere is the result of tangible efforts undertaken by the Al-Jawf Municipality over the past years, which have focused on developing recreational and sports infrastructure. The municipality has inaugurated and equipped numerous parks and green spaces, in addition to establishing 44 sports fields in various residential neighborhoods, as well as those operated by the private sector. These facilities have been provided with comprehensive services, including parking, restrooms, and high-quality lighting, to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for visitors.
These projects fall within a broader framework that aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 , specifically the Quality of Life Program , which aims to improve the lifestyle of individuals and families and build a society whose members enjoy a balanced lifestyle, by creating the necessary environment to support and develop new options that enhance the participation of citizens and residents in cultural, recreational and sports activities.
Social and health importance
Locally, these public spaces play a pivotal role in promoting public health and fostering a culture of community sports. The neighborhood sports fields provide young people and sports enthusiasts with an ideal venue to pursue their hobbies, especially football, thus contributing to a positive outlet for their energy. In this context, Fahd Al-Sharari, a young resident of the area, points to the importance of exercising during Ramadan to maintain activity and health, emphasizing that the fields near residential areas have become meeting places for friends and neighbors, strengthening bonds and social connections.
For families, parks and gardens offer an opportunity to spend enjoyable Ramadan evenings, gathering in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere while children play in designated play areas. This trend is not limited to recreation alone; it also contributes to strengthening the social fabric by providing shared spaces that bring together all segments of society.
An impact that goes beyond entertainment
Investing in parks and playgrounds in Al-Jawf and other cities across the Kingdom reflects a strategic shift in urban planning, focusing on "humanizing cities" and making them more livable for residents. This approach not only improves the quality of daily life but also enhances the overall attractiveness of the region and contributes to building a healthy, active, and cohesive society—a fundamental pillar for achieving the sustainable development that the Kingdom aspires to.
