Hide and Seek series in Ramadan: Huda Hussein revives the seventies

This year's Ramadan television season is witnessing fierce competition, with Gulf dramas returning to their golden age. The Kuwaiti series "Al-Ghamida" stands out as one of the most anticipated productions. This work transports viewers back to the atmosphere of the 1970s, offering a visual and narrative experience that blends nostalgia with complex psychological drama, starring the renowned actress Huda Hussein and a host of other prominent Gulf actors.
Reviving Kuwait's Golden Age
The series "Al-Ghamida" is more than just a drama; it's an artistic document that attempts to evoke the spirit of the 1970s, an era known as the "Golden Age" in the Gulf region, and Kuwait in particular. That period was characterized by cultural openness and artistic flourishing, as well as excellence in fashion, music, and classic decor. The production team, led by the creative director Ali Al-Ali, meticulously attended to the smallest visual details to ensure that viewers were authentically transported to that era, lending a high degree of credibility to the events and making the set design and costumes equally important elements of the story.
A human story presented in a captivating psychological framework
The series unfolds within a complex socio-psychological framework, centering on a blind mother, portrayed by actress Huda Hussein, who is exploited by her daughters for their own personal gain. Through the daily lives of this family, the series delves into the depths of the human psyche, revealing conflicts of love, greed, and the challenges of adolescence, reflecting the social transformations that swept through society at the time.
In a striking statement about her character, Huda Hussein revealed that she plays a seamstress named "Widad" whose psychological state has frozen at the age of ten, adding significant dramatic complexity to the role. Meanwhile, star Mahmoud Boushehri returns to Ramadan drama after a six-year absence with the character "Tariq," describing his character's struggle in the series with the poignant phrase: "I am ruled by two forces: my heart and the law.".
Exceptional team
"Al-Ghamida" brings together the pen of writer Heba Mishari Hamada, known for her bold and profound texts, and the vision of director Ali Al-Ali. The cast includes a distinguished group of stars such as Abdulrahman Al-Aql, Ibrahim Al-Harbi, Fatima Al-Safi, Laila Abdullah, Luluah Al-Mulla, and Mays Kamar. The series, which will air on MBC, is expected to resonate widely both locally and regionally, given the caliber of the participating actors and the emotionally resonant nature of the story.
