Completion of the sewage project in Al-Ghat: A step towards achieving Vision 2030

The National Water Company announced the completion of a strategic and vital project to implement sewage networks across large parts of Al-Ghat Governorate in the Riyadh region. This significant step aims to support the infrastructure and enhance the environmental services sector in the governorate. The total cost of the project exceeded 23 million Saudi riyals and comes as part of the company's ongoing efforts to keep pace with the rapid urban expansion and population growth in the governorate, and to meet the current and future needs of its residents.
Project details and scope of coverage
The development project included the implementation of advanced sewage networks extending over 25 kilometers, designed according to the highest technical and engineering standards to ensure efficiency and sustainability. This network aims to deliver this vital service to more than 5,800 new beneficiaries. The project's field coverage encompassed strategic areas within the governorate, including the Andalus, Granada, Nafl, Industrial, Bustan, and Zuhur districts. The service network also extended to other vital areas such as the Heritage Village and several government buildings and departments, reflecting the project's comprehensiveness and importance to the entire governorate.
Within the framework of Vision 2030 and the National Water Strategy
This project is a practical embodiment of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes improving quality of life and enhancing environmental sustainability. By expanding sanitation services, the Kingdom contributes to protecting groundwater resources from pollution, preserving public health, and improving the urban landscape. The project also aligns with the objectives of the National Water Strategy, which aims to provide high-quality and sustainable water and sanitation services throughout the Kingdom, ensuring water and environmental security.
Expected local and environmental impact
The completion of this project will have multiple positive impacts on both the local and environmental levels. Environmentally, the project will directly contribute to reducing the environmental damage caused by the use of traditional septic tanks (cesspools), which pose a risk to groundwater and cause visual pollution and unpleasant odors. Locally, it will enhance the quality of life for residents, increase property values in the served neighborhoods, and support public health by providing a clean and safe environment. Through this project, National Water Company reaffirms its commitment to implementing infrastructure projects according to approved schedules, ensuring the sustainability of environmental services with high efficiency and quality.
Invitation to take advantage of the new service
With the completion of the project's construction and operational phases, the National Water Company has invited all its customers in the neighborhoods and areas covered by the project to apply for service connection and link their properties to the public network. The company explained that applications can be submitted easily and conveniently through its official digital channels, either via the "National Water" mobile application or by visiting its online branch, to ensure immediate access to the service and the achievement of the desired goals of this important development investment.
