Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, sent a congratulatory cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on the anniversary of the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also sent a similar cable to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, expressing his sincerest congratulations and best wishes to the Saudi leadership and people.

In his message, Burhan praised the Kingdom's comprehensive civilizational and developmental achievements over the decades, which have solidified its position as an influential power on both the regional and international levels. The historical context of the founding day

Saudi National Day, celebrated annually on February 22nd, commemorates the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727. This day is a significant national occasion reflecting the Kingdom's deep historical and cultural roots. Established by royal decree in 2022, it serves as a symbol of pride in the Saudi state's enduring heritage and a reminder of its three-century-long history. Saudis celebrate this day through diverse events that highlight national identity and the rich heritage upon which the state was founded in Diriyah.

The importance of Saudi-Sudanese relations

This congratulatory message comes within the context of the strong historical ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sudan. The two countries are linked by deep geographical, cultural, religious, and economic bonds, with the Kingdom playing a pivotal role in supporting stability and development in Sudan. This role was clearly demonstrated through the Kingdom's hosting of the Jeddah talks, aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the Sudanese crisis, in addition to providing humanitarian and relief aid to the Sudanese people. This diplomatic gesture from the Sudanese leadership reflects appreciation for this pivotal role and a desire to continue coordination and cooperation in addressing shared challenges and fulfilling the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and stability.
