Al-Baha weather today: Thunderstorms, active winds, and weather warnings

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued an advanced weather alert for the Al-Baha region, indicating that the area will be affected by unstable weather conditions including scattered rainfall and increased surface wind activity. These alerts are part of the center's ongoing monitoring of weather changes to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
The center explained in its report that the weather conditions include light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by active winds that may stir up dust and sand in some open areas, in addition to a noticeable decrease in horizontal visibility due to fog or heavy rainfall in the highlands. The report also indicated the possibility of thunderstorms accompanying this rainy weather.
The center specified the regions and governorates covered by this alert, which included the city of Al-Baha, and the governorates of Baljurashi, Al-Qura, Bani Hassan, Al-Mandaq, Al-Makhwah, Qalwah, Al-Hajrah, and Ghamid Al-Zanad, in addition to the areas adjacent to these regions. The meteorology department indicated that this weather condition will continue, God willing, until 8:00 PM this evening, urging everyone to exercise caution.
The geographical nature of the courtyard and the impact of the weather
The Al-Baha region is characterized by its stunning mountainous landscape and strategic location on the Sarawat Mountains, making it prone to frequent cumulonimbus cloud formation and rainfall, especially during the transitional seasons and winter. This rainfall plays a vital role in fostering the region's renowned lush vegetation and nourishing the agricultural terraces, a prominent feature of Al-Baha's agricultural and tourism identity.
These weather fluctuations are part of the region’s climate, which attracts tourists, but at the same time requires great awareness on the part of road users, especially on mountain roads and slopes (obstacles) that connect the Sarawat Mountains to Tihama, where the likelihood of landslides or rockfalls and the formation of dense fog that impedes visibility increases.
Safety guidelines and the importance of warnings
In a related context, relevant authorities, particularly the Civil Defense, emphasize the importance of adhering to safety guidelines during these weather conditions. It is always advised to stay away from floodplains and valleys, and to avoid low-lying areas where water may accumulate. Experts also urge drivers to reduce their speed, maintain a safe following distance, and use appropriate lighting when driving in fog.
These periodic alerts from the National Center for Meteorology reflect the great development in weather monitoring systems in the Kingdom, and the keenness of the competent authorities to deliver accurate information to the community in a proactive manner, which effectively contributes to protecting lives and property and reducing the risks resulting from sudden weather fluctuations.
