Al-Alimi praises Saudi Arabia's role in supporting Yemen's stability and legitimacy

Dr. Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen, affirmed that Yemen, its leadership, government, and people, deeply appreciate the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in maintaining the country's security and stability and supporting constitutional legitimacy in the face of current challenges. These statements underscore the strength of the fraternal relations and shared destiny that unite the two brotherly nations.

Strategic partnership to protect national security

Al-Alimi's remarks come within the context of the ongoing emphasis on the importance of the strategic alliance between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has led the Arab Coalition to support legitimacy since 2015, responding to a request from the former Yemeni president, with the aim of restoring state institutions and ending the Houthi coup. This role is not limited to the military aspect alone, but extends to protecting international waterways in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, reflecting the importance of Yemen's stability to regional and international security.

Comprehensive economic and development support

In addition to political and military support, Saudi Arabia is the primary backer of the Yemeni economy. Saudi deposits in the Central Bank of Yemen have directly contributed to maintaining the stability of the national currency and preventing its complete collapse, thus mitigating the impact of the economic crisis on citizens. Furthermore, the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen plays a prominent role in rehabilitating infrastructure by implementing hundreds of projects in the health, education, energy, and transportation sectors across various liberated governorates, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to improving the living conditions of the Yemeni people.

The political track and peace efforts

Historically, Riyadh has been and remains the primary incubator for Yemeni dialogues, starting with the Gulf Initiative in 2011, up to the Riyadh Agreement and the Gulf Cooperation Council consultations that led to the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council in April 2022. The Kingdom consistently supports UN and international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that ends the war and restores security and peace to all parts of Yemen, in accordance with the three agreed references.

This firm Saudi position reflects a fraternal and humanitarian commitment towards its southern neighbor, as the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid continues to provide urgent relief assistance to millions of Yemenis, embodying the highest meanings of Arab solidarity in times of crisis.
