Al-Ahsa Agricultural Development Center trains national talent in biotechnology

In a strategic move aimed at keeping pace with rapid scientific advancements in the agricultural sector, the Agricultural Training Center in Al-Ahsa Governorate concluded its specialized training course entitled "Fundamentals of Biotechnology." The three-day course aimed to enhance the skills of ministry staff and equip them with the latest knowledge in the field of biotechnology applications, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

This course is of particular importance given the pivotal role biotechnology plays in the future of agriculture and food security, both globally and locally. This initiative comes at a time when the Kingdom is witnessing significant scientific activity aimed at localizing modern technologies. The training program was presented by Dr. Yousef Al-Hammad, a specialist in biotechnology, who delivered intensive scientific content combining theory and practice. The program covered specific topics including:

• Principles of molecular biology and understanding of microbiological mechanisms.
• DNA techniques and how to handle them in the laboratory.
• Practical applications of these techniques in agricultural and veterinary settings for improving breeds and diagnosing diseases.

The “National Biotechnology Strategy,” launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, has been extensively highlighted as a roadmap aimed at making the Kingdom a leading global hub in this field by 2030, through a focus on innovation, research and development.

For his part, Engineer Ahmed Al-Nashi, Director of the Agricultural Training Center in Al-Ahsa, affirmed that organizing this course is part of the center's ongoing plans to enhance the professional and intellectual competence of its staff. He pointed out that equipping national talent with the latest scientific concepts and practical applications is the cornerstone of building a qualified human capital capable of leading the transition towards a sustainable knowledge-based economy.
