78 million visitors to the Two Holy Mosques in Rajab 1447 AH

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced record numbers of visitors to the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina during the month of Rajab 1447 AH, with a total of 78,843,425 visitors and worshippers. This impressive statistic reflects the scale of the efforts exerted and the efficiency of the operational and organizational plans adopted by the Kingdom to accommodate the increasing numbers of pilgrims.
Statistics details for the Two Holy Mosques
The authority revealed in its statistical report detailed information about the distribution of human density in various places of worship and visitation, with the figures being as follows:
- Number of pilgrims: (14,875,003) pilgrims performed the Umrah rituals with ease and convenience.
- of worshippers in the Grand Mosque: It reached (34,954,367) worshippers.
- Ismail’s Stone: (54,402) worshippers were able to pray in the Stone.
- The Prophet’s Mosque: received (25,074,929) worshippers.
- The Noble Garden: (1,293,867) worshippers have the honor of praying in it after booking appointments in advance.
- Peace be upon the Prophet: The number of those who offered peace upon the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - and his two companions reached (2,590,857) visitors.

The authority explained that these statistics were accurately monitored and measured using the throughput index, confirming the success of the crowd management strategy. The authority continuously works to develop its field services system, from cleaning and sanitizing operations to providing water and transportation, and offering guidance and assistance in multiple languages, thus ensuring the safety and comfort of pilgrims and enhancing the quality of their spiritual experience.
Vision 2030 and accommodating the guests of God
These rising numbers are in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 , which places serving the guests of God at the top of its priorities, and aims to increase the capacity to facilitate hosting 30 million Umrah pilgrims by 2030. The third Saudi expansion projects, and the development of digital infrastructure such as the “Nusk” platform, have contributed to facilitating arrival procedures and performing the rituals for millions of people at the same time.
The importance of the month of Rajab and peak seasons
The month of Rajab is one of the sacred months and a vital preparatory season preceding the holy month of Ramadan, during which the number of visitors from within the Kingdom and abroad significantly increases. Successfully managing these millions of pilgrims during Rajab is a strong positive indicator of the readiness of the relevant authorities to receive visitors during Ramadan and the Hajj season, reaffirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's global leadership in managing massive crowds in a specific geographical area.
