123 bridges and 44 tunnels... 74 million square meters of roads in Mecca and the holy sites have been upgraded

announced The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing the completion of the road and infrastructure system in Makkah andthe Holy Sites as part of its operational plan forthe 1447 AH Hajj season.
This was achieved through a wide range of development works and field improvements aimed at enhancing traffic flow and improving mobility efficiency in high-density areas.

The ministry explained that the work carried out included the construction of more than 11 million linear meters of roads, and the treatment and development of approximately 74 million square meters of road surfaces.
In addition to paving more than 1.2 million m2, which enhances the readiness of the traffic network and supports the efficiency of movement in Makkah and the holy sites during the season.

ministry explained that the plan included upgrading 123 bridges and 44 pedestrian and vehicular tunnels, in addition to implementing infrastructure improvements along traffic routes. This aims to enhance traffic safety and improve mobility in vital locations and around the holy sites.
The ministry emphasized that these works are part of a comprehensive operational system designed to improve municipal infrastructure, enhance traffic flow, and reduce congestion in areas experiencing high traffic volume during the Hajj season.
