Al-Rabeeah: The condition of the Somali twins, Rahma and Ramla, is stable after their separation surgery

As for the twin “Ramla”, he explained that due to the incompleteness of her urinary system, her atrophied kidneys, and her need for hemodialysis to remove fluids from her body, she is still under artificial respiration. He pointed out that the medical team reported that her condition is stable - thanks to God - and her surgical situation is reassuring, and it is expected that the artificial respiration devices will be removed from her tomorrow, and therefore she will continue with intermittent hemodialysis as needed, as well as gradually starting to give her food orally, like her sister.

Progressive medical rehabilitation

Dr. Al-Rabeeah stated that the twins' condition is very reassuring and their surgical status is good, with no alarming indicators for the medical and surgical team. He added that they will remain in intensive care for three to five days, after which they will be transferred to the pediatric ward to begin their gradual rehabilitation.
It is worth noting that the surgery for the Somali conjoined twins, Rahma and Ramla, is the 68th such operation performed under the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins. The surgery, which took place last Thursday, was performed in eight stages and lasted 12 hours. A team
of 36 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff participated, specializing in anesthesia, pediatric surgery, pediatric urology, orthopedics, and plastic surgery.
